Chef Kwame Onwuachi’s debut cookbook, My America: Recipes from a Young Black Chef, is a deeply personal tribute to the food handed down through his family and a celebration of Black culinary traditions. In the book, he shares the foods and flavors that have shaped his culinary journey, with recipes and traditions spanning from Nigeria to the Caribbean, the American south to the Bronx, and beyond.
Kwame Onwuachi is a James Beard Award-winning chef, who was raised in the Bronx, Nigeria, and Louisiana. A former contestant and now a recurring judge on Top Chef, he has been named Esquire’s Chef of the Year, one of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs, and 30 Under 30 honoree by both Zagat and Forbes.
